    Mr. Shaojie Wu is not only influential in power system reform policies and a professional in electrical technology with practical experience, but he is also a thought-leader innovating cutting-edge market concepts. Mr. Shaojie Wu is also a researcher at the Academy of Modern Electric Power Research in North China Electric Power University.

    He was started R&D researcher for Electric Double Layer Capacitor company in Korea which is Nuintek since 2001. He completed Ph. D course at YONSEI University of New Materials Engineering. He was joined the KORBA (Battery R&D Association of Korea) from 2011, and then KBIA(Korea Battery Industry Association) was established Now. He is a charge of Battery R&D Planing and Industry supporting work in KBIA/KORBA. Also, he is project leader of ISO 18300 in ISO (International Organization of Standardization) TC22/SC21A and expert of Lithium Ion Battery & Capacitor in IEC and ISO.

    Dr. Rahul leads the Emerging Technologies & Markets practice for Customized Energy Solutions with focus on energy storage, renewables, demand response and smart grid technologies as well as international markets. Dr. Rahul is founder and Executive Director for India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). He is member of the Board of Directors of Electricity Storage Association (ESA) since 2009 and was elected as Secretory in 2013. He was nominated as Vice Chair for Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA) in March 2014. His activities have covered complete range of smart grid, demand response, microgrid and energy storage technologies.

  • Mr. Urban Windelen

    Executive Director, German Energy Storage Association (BVES)

    Urban Windelen is Executive Director of BVES Bundesverband Energiespeicher, the German Energy Storage Association. Preceding this position, he worked as political and strategic advisor for companies and associations such as Royal Dutch Shell and BDE, the Association of German Recycling Industry - always with a strong focus on energy and environmental politics and law. 15 years ago he started his career at the headquarters of the German Christian Democratic Party, CDU. Mr Windelen studied at the University of Bonn and the University of Trier and holds a degree in law.  
  • Dr. Andreas Hauer

    Head of Department, ZAE Bayern, Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research, Dept. Energy Storage

    Dr. Andreas Hauer studied Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians- University in Munich, Germany. He made his PhD at the technical University in Berlin. Now is Head of the Division "Energy Storage" at the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research, ZAE Bayern, with about 80 employees. There he is responsible for a number of national and international research projects focussed on thermal and electrical energy storage, thermal driven heat pumps / chillers for industrial and building applications. Dr. Hauer is an international known expert on energy storage in general and specialized on thermal energy storage. For 7 years he was the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Energy Storage Programme within the International Energy Agency IEA. At the moment he is leading one working group on material development for thermal energy storage and another one on "Distributed energy storage for the integration of renewable energies (DESIRE)" within the technology network of the IEA. On the national level he is member of the board of directors of the 2012 established Bundesverband Energiespeicher (BVES), German Energy Storage Association. In this position he is responsible for R&D activities within the association.

  • Mr. Mark Higgins

    Chief Operating Officer, Strategen Consulting

    Mark has worked in a diverse range of roles within the energy industry. Mark is the COO of Strategen Consulting and leads the company's consulting practice. Prior to Strategen, Mark led Pacific Gas & Electric Company's work in key policy areas including interconnection and transmission planning, and dealt with technologies ranging from distributed energy storage and demand response to large scale renewables developments. Prior to PG&E, Mark was the Director of Utility West at SunEdison, where he led a portfolio of more than a of renewable energy development assets. Mark also held the role of Vice President of Finance of Hu Honua Bioenergy, a 21.5 MW biomass power redevelopment project in Hawaii. Mark has a strong private equity, venture capital and investment banking background, including placing over $125 million in equity for publicly traded companies and managing the launch of a $70 million Pacific-rim venture fund investing in the agricultural biotech and medical devices sectors. Mark holds a Master of Pacific International Affairs from UC-San Diego, and a Bachelor of Arts in government from the University of Notre Dame. He is also an advisor to the California Energy Storage Alliance and on the steering committee of the Australian Energy Storage Alliance.
